Manifesto Megaphones at Garden City Park

Come early to the Garden City Park screening of E.T. and make your very own Manifesto Megaphone! Make your voice heard and seen. This drop-in event is free and open to all ages.
Me Manifest at Fun in Lang Park

Lang Park, 8211 Saba Road
Bring your self and your imagination for a Minoru Manifesto pop-up at Fun in Lang Park. All the supplies will be provided for self-portrait drawings to be added to the pictorial manifest collection. This drop-in event is free and designed for ages 5 and under and their guardians.
Garden Walk & Writing
Friday, July 26, 2019 | 7:30-9:00pm
Meet at Minoru Chapel, 6540 Gilbert Road
Join artist Julie Hammond for a stress relieving and no-experience-required evening of garden strolling and writing. Julie will lead participants in a quiet wander through Minoru Park, to observe flowers, fauna, sights and sounds. Participants will use their observations to create and share short pieces of prose and poetry. Writing prompts will be provided. Participants are welcome to observe and create in any language.

Put your crayon to paper and be a part of building a pictorial manifest! Add a drawing of your self, something from Richmond, or something from your home. Take your drawing with you or add it to our collection. This drop-in event is free and open to all ages.

Meet at Minoru Chapel, 6540 Gilbert Road
Explore Minoru Park and the surrounding area with Minoru Chapel Artist in Residence Julie Hammond. Together we will wander and chronicle, share stories of what was and what could be, and create a collective list of what Minoru Park holds. Think of it like a scavenger hunt where we create and search for clues at the same time. Walk is open to all ages and abilities.

Doors Open Richmond – Take a peek inside Minoru Chapel and make your own mini manifest for your self, your home, your city, or any other location you can imagine. Text from these manifests may be used as part of the Minoru Manifesto performance in late September.

Manifesto Megaphones – Join Julie Hammond for an Art CafĂ© takeover event to build block print and collage megaphones. These Manifesto Megaphones share messages visually and can be used to amplify your public declarations. No previous visual arts experience required – all materials will be provided.

Minoru Manifesto Launch – Join artist Julie Hammond for a casual meet and greet and memory collection activity at the historic Minoru Chapel. Participants will be provided prompts to help pull out stories, words, and sounds from places and people in and around Richmond. No writing or performance experience required – all ages are welcome to attend.

Meet at Minoru Chapel, 6540 Gilbert Road
Join Minoru Chapel and City Centre Community Centre, Artist-In-Residence Julie Hammond and composer Matthew Ariaratnam for an afternoon soundwalk. The walk will invite participants to listen to a range of environments around Richmond’s city centre, including natural, man-made, and unexpected sounds. We will conclude with an activity to share and document participant discoveries.
This is a free, drop-in event and registration is not required. Walk is open to all ages and abilities. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Please dress for the weather.

Walk Back In Time
Saturday, June 22, 2019 | 11am – 1pm
The walk will depart from Minoru Chapel, 6540 Gilbert Road and return to City Centre Community Centre, 5900 Minoru Blvd.
Join Minoru Chapel Artist in Residence Julie Hammond for a relaxed and historically informed walk through Richmond. Together we will journey from the Minoru Chapel's current location in Minoru Park to its original spot at Cambie and River Road. Along the way walkers will be encouraged to share observations of the changing landscape of Richmond, and their own stories and memories of locations we pass. The walk is approximately 4.5km and is open to all ages and abilities.
Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Please dress for the weather and bring water for walking.
